Frequently asked questions:

What type of construction do you specialize in?

I have been in the Construction Industry since 1994. In those years I have accomplished many projects in residential and commercial construction; we specialize in both. We want to give the customer the best product and outcome they desire. Tenant Improvements and working with franchises is an area we have focused on since 2008. However, these general contractors Reno NV jobs come and go. Therefore, I do not limit my company to just commercial tenant improvement or upfits. Residential projects such as home remodels and outdoor structures are our other specialty, derived from the cumulation of projects since 1994. Patio Covers to remodeling are very rewarding once the final product is completed.

Is your company licensed and/or insured?

We have a general B license in California & a general B-2 license in Nevada, both licenses are kept current and required bonds are paid before license renewal. We carry General liability and Workers Compensation and have a commercial auto policy as well. If a general contractors Reno NV project requires additional coverage, then we typically acquire the extra policies needed prior to job start.

How long does a typical job take?

This is a very common question customers ask. Once we start a project we work to complete the job diligently and regularly and according to time, sequence and quality of work. In the portion of the process where we provide our job costing estimate, we will give you a confirmed date of completion. However, if the general contractors Reno NV customer requests changes to their original contracted terms regarding the scope of work to be done (which happens a lot and is also known as a “change order”) this will delay the process every time. This is because of supply chain issues when ordering materials, architect availability regarding changes to architectural drawings, and subcontractor availability for certain specialty aspects of the project which all take time and require attention to detail to ensure proper changes are made in accordance to the customers’ needs.

How do you charge for projects?

If we are bidding on a patio cover for instance, we can give you a price per square foot. Please note the price of lumber fluctuates up and down and quotes are only good for 15 days. If you’re adding an outdoor kitchen, the price will depend on the BBQ, sink, fridge, countertop, concrete, stone and type of lumber and roofing materials needed; this is not an exhaustive list. Commercial TI will depend on the amount of work needed according to plans and finishing touches. If you need to completely remove all the existing walls, add, or relocate bathrooms, add electrical to the center of the floor, or concrete saw cutting, these are all things that we consider before giving an estimate. As general contractors Reno NV our residential remodels vary with the scope of work being performed. Bathrooms in general, will depend on the age of the existing unit, this goes for kitchens as well. Additional considerations that affect pricing are discussed at the time of the estimate but can include treating mold, replacing rotten wood, replacing moldy drywall, ripping out and replacing old plumbing pipes or electrical wiring, replacing existing flooring or adding tile. Remember, where there is water there will likely be mildew and remodels often run into unexpected and unforeseeable issues due to the nature of the wet areas of a home being more susceptible to these sorts of issues. Anyone considering doing a remodel should be aware of these considerations and be prepared for them before committing to a remodel project.

Do you have your own crew or hire subcontractors?

I currently sub out specialty trades such as: plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, countertops, and heating/air conditioning if needed. I want the best quality of work for my general contractors Reno NV customers to ensure you will be happy and that no issues will occur due to faulty work; these are experts in their respective fields.

Who is responsible for getting the necessary permits?

Tri Peak Construction & Design, Inc. will be responsible for getting permits and plans stamped and approved prior to start of construction. We will make sure all work is performed to code and local building standards in accordance with your state, county, or city the project is taking place in.

Do you offer free in person estimates?

Yes, no one should have to pay for an estimate. Unless our customers need us to fly out of state or drive to a remote location out of our service area, we do not charge for this service. A fee will apply only under the condition for out of state work and will be assessed on a situation by situation basis (considering flights, distance, size of job, etc.)

What is your service area?

My service area in Nevada is as follows: Sparks, Reno, Incline Village, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, & Fernley. Service Areas in California are as follows: Truckee, Donner, Tahoe City. However, if the general contractors Reno NV job is worth leaving this territory, I will be willing to travel depending on the services required.

Do you offer any warranties or guarantees on work completed ?

Yes, we do offer a one-year warranty for all work we complete. This is standard in the construction industry and we want to ensure our clients that we stand behind our craftsmanship as general contractors Reno NV can trust. The last thing our customers want is shoddy work done and nobody to come and fix it. In the event that our team makes it to the end of the project without completing something or with less than satisfactory quality based on our internal standards we have something called a punch list that we implement to ensure that these things do not make it through. Our punch list system is designed to be as thorough as possible to prevent any need for warranty at all. However when things fail unexpectedly after the fact we have a solid warranty for one year to cover these rare instances.
